Description of the Cashier Job

The East London location of Midas is looking to hire an upstanding Cashier to join their team.
The primary responsibilities of this role are to accept payments, maintain accurate cash records, and keep accurate documentation of all transactions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity and dependability in their work.
The successful candidate would be expected to report to the corresponding department manager.

The following will be included among the Cashier Performance Indicators, however the list is not exhaustive:

Cash Handling and Counting

Collects and counts payment tendered, verifies total against amount due, and either seeks identification or records and processes cheque payments Collects and counts payment tendered, verifies total against amount due, and either seeks identification or records and processes cheque payments Receives payment against services rendered to the public by communicating with the customer and attending to specific payment or sale enquiries or providing information on prices for specific product
Providing customers with receipts that accurately reflect the amounts they have paid and confirming their recordings with them
In order to ensure that client inquiries and payment transactions are attended to in a timely manner and processed accurately in accordance with the rules that have been established by the organization.
Rectification of Cash Flows

Performs a reconciliation of the cash that was received with the receipts that were issued to customers by separating the denominations of the cash and starting with the control counting sequence.
Adding up the amounts and checking them against the receipts that were used
Prior to sending the check for additional processing, the steps of recording transactional details on the check, printing receipts against payment tender, and capturing details of overnight cheque deposits were completed.
Correcting any discrepancies in recording or counting that may have occurred prior to the cash being forwarded to be deposited by checking the cash receipts schedule and reports against the cash cheque totals with the immediate supervisor and/or the attending.
The documentation and maintenance of records

Transactions are maintained by them.
affixing duplicate receipts and deposit slips to the appropriate schedules and organizing the paperwork in reverse chronological order
Having the ability to access and retrieve information as well as records in order to facilitate the resolution of specific inquiry

Cashier Requirements:

Grade 12
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel after 2–5 years of study Doing time behind the register
Should be able to manage all of the counter cash.
Carry out administrative tasks of a more broad nature at the branch.
