Job Purpose
We are looking for someone to fill the position of General Worker, who will report to the Branch Manager. This is a local position with the focus being on Witbank.
You are responsible for ensuring the upkeep of each and every tire.
Responsibilities: Tyre Maintenance
It is required that all vehicles leave the yard with tyres that comply with the SLA;
At least once per month, each and every vehicle is inspected;
Carry out pressure maintenance and ensure that pressure readings are accurately recorded on the survey sheet;
Take readings of the tread depth in each of the three different sections of the tread area and record them on the survey sheet;
Install valve caps on all of the wheel positions, and on all of the dual positions, install a valve extension;
Every movement of a tire is recorded on a document called a Tyre Change Slip;
All wheel changes are required to be performed in accordance with SLA;
Remove tyres with a smooth surface and correct mismatches in tread, size, and status;
Take off any tires that have a pressure reading that is lower than 15 percent of the maximum recommended pressure, and inspect them for any irregularities;
branded tires in accordance with the agreement between Bridgestone and the client;
At the very least once a month, torque each of the wheel positions;
Tire Action Reports should be filed for any and all wheel defects.
Before installing tires, make sure the rims are inspected and cleaned.
Stock
Stock must be taken in accordance with brand number and size when recording it in a Bridgestone Commercial Stock Book, which is updated on a daily basis.
Inform the customer each day of the stock. (Cancel and Sign Off on the Stock Sheet)
A brand number is required for identification purposes on each and every tyre that is kept in stock.
Wellness & Risk Management
Lift the motor vehicle in the correct manner and use the appropriate tools for the job.
Put the tires on the rim in the right position;
Construct motor vehicles with accurate wheel mountings;
Always make sure to wear the appropriate Bridgestone Commercial PPE;
Always exercise caution when handling tools, and make sure to keep them clean.
Make sure the area you work in and the yard are always clean;
The proper and secure storage of all machines and tools is maintained at all times;
The changing rooms are kept immaculately clean at all times;
Take precautions to ensure that no company property is harmed;
Tires are arranged in an orderly fashion and clearly labeled for quick and simple identification;
To ensure that the Personal Protective Equipment and facilities that are provided by the company are in good and clean working condition, you must comply with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensure that they are.
Administration
Record all tyre movements in a Bridgestone Commercial Tyre Change Slip Book. Record all tyre survey information in a Bridgestone Commercial Survey Book.
A Factory Control Book needs to have information on each and every tyre that is delivered to the factory;
Maintain a Branding Register that includes all branded tyres;
Every piece of paper needs to be kept in a secure and dry location.
Liaison with Customers
Identify any and all problems that are related to maintenance and report them to the client;
Keep up a positive and productive working relationship with the client;
To comply with all reasonable requests and instructions, whether they are communicated verbally or in writing, so long as they are within the bounds of one’s own line of duty; To ensure that the customer’s needs are met at all times.
General Responsibilities
After each use, the torque wrench spring is allowed to relax;
Lubricate the impact every day; drain the water from the water traps and the compressor every day;
Daily cleaning and storage of equipment, as well as compliance with all health and safety protocols at the workplace.
Requirements:
National Senior Certificate English proficiency
Two years of relevant work experience in the tyre industry
