Job Description

The Dis-Chem Pharmacies location in Marine Walk is looking to hire an experienced Casual Cashier for their store (Umdloti).
While doing so, support customer service at the point of sale and ensure a shopping experience of the highest caliber.
Record all customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system in accordance with the company’s policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and the elimination of any potential for fraud.

Minimum Requirement :

Grade 12 / Matric
A minimum of six months’ experience working as a cashier or in a till-operating capacity.
Knowledgeable in computers and Microsoft Office
Competence in the use of numbers
Strong command of the English language Fundamental skills in providing service to customers
ready and able to work during normal business hours

Dis-customer Chem’s service policies and procedures must be adhered to as part of the job description.
Create a respectful and businesslike relationship with your clients.
Bring compliments and complaints from customers to the attention of the Frontline Supervisor or the management of the store.
Maintain the hourly rate determined by the number of customers served.
Be aware of the current deals and discounts that are being offered.
Make sure that your coworkers and your customers are not put in any danger.

Conduct and manage communication according to the Dis-Chem 5 star principles
Take responsibility for the flow of cash
Make sure the supervisor has approved and signed off on any line voids or price changes before implementing them.
Customers can get their merchandise exchanged, and returned items are accepted if they have been given permission to do so.
Carry out all transactions, including the receipt and processing of payments (in the form of cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and any other forms of payment accepted by Dis-Chem).

Treat all customer loyalty cards, including those belonging to our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards and eBucks)
Ensure that cash is stored in the drop safe in accordance with Dis-standard Chem’s operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure that the use of your code and password is restricted to only you, is secure, and is regularly changed.
Make sure that all of the items, stock, and scripts that are being shipped out have been scanned and paid for.

Also, make sure that the till is kept in a safe and secure location at all times.
Treat daily receipts as confidential information, and discuss them only with management.
Maintain vigilance, be able to identify suspicious behavior, and communicate it to management.
Respond to questions about the items for sale in the store.
Observe the security guidelines and protocols established by Dis-Chem.
