Position Description

In our Engineering department, Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has an exciting opportunity. We seek a talented individual with relevant skills and experience to fill the position of Handyman in Polokwane.
The successful applicant will directly report to the Team Leader: Location in Polokwane.
To proactively maintain (inspect and adjust) and repair site-related equipment, including building maintenance, painting, and general repairs, in accordance with maintenance schedules.

Principal Responsibilities & Duties :

Using hand and power tools, repair or replace defective equipment parts and reassemble equipment.
Carry Out Routine Preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems function effectively and that the building’s physical condition does not deteriorate.
Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, including hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
Maintain sanitary installations
Assemble pipe systems and plumbing, equipment and machinery.
Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster wallboard, and other building components.
Repair wooden structures, such as counters, benches, partitions, sheds, and outbuildings.

Abilities, Experience, and Training

Equipment Maintenance – perform routine equipment maintenance and determine when and what type of maintenance is required.
Repairing – repairing machines or systems with the appropriate equipment.
Troubleshooting – identifying the causes of operational errors and deciding what to do about them
Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing systems and repairs.
Active Listening entails paying full attention to what others are saying, taking the time to comprehend their points, asking pertinent questions, and not interjecting at inappropriate times.
Selection of Equipment – Planning a crucial aspect of task execution with the proper tools.
Reading Comprehension is the ability to comprehend written sentences and paragraphs in professional documents.
Critical Thinking – employing logic and reason to determine the advantages and disadvantages of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to a problem.
Operation Monitoring – observing gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that equipment is operating correctly.
Coordination entails modifying actions in relation to those of others.

Credentials / Experience:

A trade certification (such as in carpentry, painting, construction, or plumbing) is desirable.
A minimum of two years’ experience as a tiller, painter, plumber, or carpenter with a background in construction.
English oral communication.
Capability to work independently.
Hand and power tool usage.
Valid driver’s license.
