Description of the Job

Anova is a non-governmental organization that works to improve people’s lives and empower them. What drives us to provide solutions for healthcare and support to those who have the greatest need for it is the desire to improve people’s quality of life and their overall health.

SIOC Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) was established in 2006 by Sishen Iron Ore Company SIOC (PTY) LTD with the purpose of investing in the further development of the communities that are located in close proximity to the mine facilities.
By implementing a Mental Health Programme (Psychosocial Support) in collaboration with Anova, they are working to reduce the premature mortality rate caused by non-communicable diseases.
This will be accomplished through the prevention, treatment, and promotion of mental health and wellbeing.

We are looking for a skilled Data Capturer who can provide assistance in carrying out administrative tasks related to data, as well as capture patient files, generate defaulter reports, and compile monthly statistics.

Principal Obligations and Responsibilities

Compilation of Data

Daily collection of data or information obtained from each and every register collected.
Verify the information that has been provided to ensure its credibility and check for any instances of duplication or omission.
It is imperative that patient files and information be kept confidential.
Collect all of the data in a comprehensive, accurate, and prescribed manner.
The data capturing systems should be updated, and training should be provided.

Provide assistance in accurately entering M&E data into the systems that have been provided, such as DHIS or any other systems that have been provided by Anova or a stakeholder (for example, REDCap).
The participation in ongoing training for data management is required.
In order to ensure that facility data capturers and administrative staff accurately record mental health indicators, it is important to provide support and mentorship.
In accordance with the manager’s instructions, collect data for ad hoc project-related requests.

Assurance of the Quality of the Data

Provide assistance to the MEL Officer in the management of quality procedures.
Provide assistance with activities pertaining to data quality assurance, including data cleaning exercises.
Notify your line manager of any issues that arise in connection with the collection of data as soon as they arise.
The type of data that is collected should be monitored, and suggestions for improvements should be made.
Help with the testing of the systems that capture data.

The Archiving and Storing of Data

It is imperative that all manual and electronic data be protected and kept secure.
Make certain that the data that is captured is saved or stored in the manner that is prescribed, and make sure that backups are performed on a regular basis.

The Reporting and the Feedback

Project data should be provided on a weekly basis.
Every month, you should provide a detailed report.

Participation of Stakeholders

Attend a variety of stakeholder meetings and represent Anova at those meetings as and when they are required.
Always be prepared to take part in audit verification when it is necessary.
Other tasks that have been agreed upon with the line manager.

Competencies, Experience, and Qualifications

Matric
Qualifications from a tertiary institution and prior experience working in primary health care in the Republic of South Africa will be advantageous.
A minimum of two years of experience in the administration and collection of data.
The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines is required.
Capability to capture data in a timely and proper manner.

Outstanding abilities in the areas of administration and organization.
Able to keep information confidential at all times.
In the event that it is necessary, flexible and willing to work weekends.
Excellent abilities in both communication and facilitation
Capable of communicating in English as well as other official languages spoken in the area or region.
Fluent in using computers.
Be willing to travel whenever it is necessary to do so.
