REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum requirements:
A certificate for National Senior Certificate / Matric with subjects related to finance and accounting. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
It is required that you have a fundamental understanding of the processes and procedures involved in the collection, recording, and management of debt, as well as related accounting transactions and actions.
Abilities in reasoning and mathematics, as well as problem solving Capability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers or creditors.
Positivist, trustworthy, and loyal, with the ability to make sound judgements and an aim for zero defects. Added advantage:
Qualification in finance or accounting beyond the matriculation level A minimum of one year of experience in the relevant field.
A valid driver’s license issued by the RSA or the Military.
DUTIES:
Providing support and assistance in the DOD’s effort to control and maintain current and new Departmental debt.
Taking action on a regular basis to collect past-due debts from active and former members of the South African National Defense Force (SANDF), Public Service Act Personnel (PSAP), and private institutions.
Putting in place and maintaining procedures that will allow for effective management of departmental debt.
Registering, preparing outgoing correspondence, and processing all accounting transactions related to the activity. coordinating and exchanging information with the office of the State Attorney.
Putting into action efficient steps and procedures to guarantee that all deadlines will be met and that the department’s debt will be recouped.
Constant working together, coordinating, and talking with the Finance Clerk Supervisor who is in charge of the section.
Application in a stringent manner of the prescripts contained in the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations (TR’s), and any other instructions that may be applicable.
Keeping track of, filing away, and storing securely all documentation and information pertaining to debtors administration for the purposes of future reference and auditing.
