What the Security Guards job entails
Dis-Chem Pharmacies in the Westrand is looking for a security guard to provide a security service in line with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act 56 of 2001 as amended for the Dis-Chem Group that meets Dis-Chem’s security needs to protect assets, property, and staff by creating a safe and secure environment, looking for signs of criminal activity or disorder, and looking into disturbances while following the laws that apply to the industry.
Security Guards The bare minimum…
Grade 12: Matric or Senior Certificate
The PSIRA qualification (Grade C)
At least three years of experience in the retail business, such as in shopping malls and warehouses.

Be aware of what’s going on around you so you can spot suspicious activities, catch criminals, or get rid of people who don’t follow the rules according to the law and the Dis-Chem standard operating procedures for the specific job.
Random checks of the property are done on a regular basis to make sure that everyone can see everything and to reduce risks.
Monitor and control who can get into the building by keeping track of and regulating car and pedestrian entry points. Only people with the right permission should be able to get in.
Investigate and report signs of damage or unauthorized entry to management as they happen, and then take the appropriate steps to protect Dis-Chem’s assets.
Be as obvious as possible to stop theft, damage, personal injury, and other bad things from happening.
When you meet guests, customers, and employees, you should be professional, friendly, and ready to help others.
Access control: staff, dealers, and company merchandisers are all searched.
Keep track of and fill out all forms and event books.
Staff buyers and goods declared should be taken off.
Supervise and check that trash is taken away in accordance with Dis-Chem standards.
Protect the business’s property and assets from dishonest people, bad actions, and other bad things that could cause the business to lose money.
When on duty, you should always be at your place.
Use good customer service skills with all Dis-Chem users, both internal and external.
Report any staff, customers, or sellers who act in a way that seems strange or suspicious.
Opening and closing procedures: to be present, aware, and careful when the spot is opened and closed.
At the end of each day, make sure that all doors and windows are locked.
Make sure all the water taps are turned off when they should be.
Do constant searches and pat-downs of people every day.
Do detailed and correct searches of vehicles all day long.
Report any suspicious incidents to the management in detail, both directly and in writing as soon as it is convenient.
Contact the police and emergency services and make written or verbal reports to law enforcement when needed, as required by law and as outlined in the Dis-Chem processes.
When problems or crises happen or have been dealt with, it’s important to keep an eye on the environment and let management know about any changes that make the situation worse.
After a crisis, you should give a thorough written report to management, the police, or the right authorities (like the fire department in the case of a fire) about what happened and what you did during the crisis.
Watch the alarm systems or video cameras and use the detecting and emergency tools when needed.
When working at night or alone, like after hours, make sure to keep an eye on the building by walking around the grounds and using closed-circuit camera tracking or alarm systems to find and look into any suspicious activities. This will make sure that only people who are allowed to be there can get in.
In an emergency, help people and the emergency teams. For example, you could call first responders, clinic sisters, managers, etc.
Maintain order during evacuations and at meeting places by giving clear instructions or taking quick action to keep people and property safe by stopping stampedes, law and order breaking down, or people sneaking into the building.
Offer ongoing security advice, safety tips, and warnings to make sure that all security and safety measures are taken.
Be careful and keep an eye out for any strange behavior that might mean a security measure on the site has been broken.
Quickly make sense of what you see and act properly.
In a crisis, you should act quickly and properly. Don’t let yourself be caught off guard by not being aware.
Standard operating procedures for the business and Dis-Chem tell you how to handle different dangerous situations in the best way.
Getting help: Don’t wait to call the police if you’re in a very dangerous situation, like a robbery or attack with a deadly weapon or a robbery with a gun. Doing so could save your life or property.
Write down things that happen every day and things that are out of the ordinary.
Make sure rules and laws are followed to stop crime before it happens.
Perform special tasks, such as answering phone calls, texts, and emails, and running important jobs for the department in accordance with Dis-Chem and industry standard operating procedures.

English is the official language required, so you should be able to read, write, and talk it well.

When working as a driver, you need to have a driver’s license, a good car, and a PDP.
