The six coal mines operated by Sasol Mining provide feedstock for the integrated value chain that we have established in Southern Africa.
The majority of the coal that is delivered to Secunda Synfuels Operations (SSO) is put to use as a feedstock for gasification, while the remainder is used to produce electricity.
The Sasolburg Operations (SO) uses the coal that is supplied to it in order to generate both electricity and steam.
Through the Twistdraai Export Plant’s connection to the Richards Bay Coal Terminal, we also provide our international customers with coal for use in power generation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION:
This position will provide assistance to the Full Calendar Operations team (Fulco)
Artisans and Senior Artisans are accountable for the management of the maintenance process in their respective areas of responsibility. This ensures that mining teams are able to meet their production goals while adhering to the QCDSM’s guiding principles.
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
Equipment in the area of responsibility must be managed, controlled, and maintained.
Safety management and risk assessment
Make sure that COPs and SOPs are recognized and followed at all times.
Identify ISO standards
Maintenance that is both accurate and realistic, as well as an overall plan and budget
Ensure that the equipment has the highest possible availability and reliability.
Compliance with all Sasol requirements as well as any and all legal and statutory requirements
Offer specialized knowledge, in-section coaching and training, as well as assistance with complex repairs.
Assess the training needs of the personnel and create a training schedule.
Instruct subordinates on the requirements needed to move up to the next highest level.
REQUIREMENTS:
The necessary credentials and level of experience (Must)
Math, science, and English/business English at the level of Grade 12 or N3 (or its equivalent) are required.
NQF 4 Trade Test (Valid EM Trade Test Certificate – Qualified EM/Millright) Occupational Qualifications Framework Level 4 Trade Test
Testing for gas leaks and flame resistance where appropriate
Fault finding experience
A familiarity with the work management process and the ability to put it into practice (wish)
Acquire knowledge of and familiarity with the plant or mine’s maintenance documentation system, including job cards, task list notifications, etc.
It is important to be familiar with the various failure modes of discipline-specific equipment.
Computer literate (wish)
Experience working underground in a coal mine, specifically in a fiery mine, is a definite plus.
