The hours of work are 8:00 in the morning to 17:00 in the evening, Monday through Friday, with a lunch break of 45 minutes.
Description of the Groundsman Job
Within the Western Cape, Faircape Life manages and runs six upscale retirement and lifestyle towns. These estates can be found in the areas of Noordhoek, Kirstenhof, Tokai, Somerset West, and Onrus respectively.
We are looking for someone to work as a Groundsman at our property, Heritage Manor, which is located in Somerset West.
The groundskeeper is accountable for the upkeep of the village’s gardens and grounds, as well as for ensuring that the appearance of the village’s trees, shrubs, flowers, beds, and lawns is satisfactory, as well as for ensuring that the grounds are free of waste, weeds, pests that are detrimental to plants, and illnesses that affect plants.
The following is not an exhaustive list of duties, but they will be included:
Maintenance of the Garden:
The trimming of bushes and trees that have become overgrown.
Plant beds and garden redevelopment should be reinstated.
The cultivation of the plant beds
Mowing the grass and edging the shrubs
Weeding out
Supplemental or manual watering whenever it is necessary
Equipment and Machines:
Checking the tools (lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and brush cutters) both before and after they are used.
At the end of each day’s work, thoroughly clean all of the tools.
Be sure that the blades of any cutting instruments are oiled and sharpened.
Refuse :
Garbage collection from residential areas
Separating waste that can be recycled from other rubbish
Sanitizing garbage cans after they have been cleaned.
Putting yard debris in containers for collection and disposal
Maintenance and Administration:
A clean workplace and canteen
Maintain a clean exterior around the Body Corporate Reception.
If the weather permits, open the outdoor eating area and set up the courtyard umbrellas.
Keeping the area around the guard booth clean.
Once a week, check the perimeter fence for any weeds or plants that may have grown there.
Once a month, spray the plants and weeds along the fence that surrounds the property.
Upkeep and Routine Checkups:
Clean the artificial turf in the courtyards.
Clear debris and sweep paved areas in courtyards.
Clean the paved area around the Healthcare facility.
Gather the leaves from the courtyards.
Groundsman Qualifications
Matric or equivalent.
The advantages of experience and knowledge.
1 year of experience that is relevant, working in a capacity that is comparable.
A familiarity with vegetation and the methods of gardening
A familiarity with the implements and machines used in horticulture
A familiarity with cultivating plants and gardening practices, as well as an understanding of irrigation systems
Capability to carry out fundamental groundskeeping responsibilities
Capability of lifting and manipulating objects that are heavy.
A comprehension of the health and safety regulations
