Job Description

Reporting to the Assistant Mechanical Foreman, the successful candidate will maintain, machine to close resistances, service and repair Mechanical plant, machinery and equipment to guarantee accessibility of an effective plant and continuous water supply to clients.

Requirements Needed:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• A recognised trade test as a Fitter and Turner.
• 3 years post apprenticeship experience in maintenance, service, installation and repair of Mechanical plant machinery and/or equipment
• A substantial Code 08 Driver’s permit and the ability to pass through Rand Water’s K53 assessment.

Key Duties:

• Perform daily maintenance on plant gear as well as booked precaution maintenance and planned Centrifugal pumps. Perform safety assessments on plant equipment.

• Perform installations of plant equipment by safe transporting of equipment, repack glands, and introduce guards and so on. Follow the permit system.
• Install mechanical plant machinery and/or equipment precisely.
• Overhauling of Mechanical plant equipment by adhering to safe working instructions as well as performing great housekeeping consistently.
• Receive and Completion of occupation cards as far as the Rand Water policies.

Knowledge:

• Special training  in Pumps
• Knowledge on the OHS act
• Essential cutting and welding
• Upkeep of valves and lines
