Requirements
- Basic literacy or Grade 10. Grade 12 is an added advantage.
- A valid driver’s license is an additional benefit.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (bilingual is required).
- Capacity to adhere to and execute instructions that have been provided.
- A fundamental understanding and ability to perform physical labor, as well as good physical health.
- An individual who is self-disciplined and diligent.
- Applicants must be residents of the Mid-Vaal Local Municipality.
- One year of relevant experience in general work related to waste management within a municipality.
Responsibilities
- Perform any other general labor that is consistent with the operation of a waste disposal facility, including refuse control.
- Maintenance of landfill and transfer station operations.
- Assisting at the recycling center as required.
- Assist spotters in the direction and regulation of traffic at the landfill and transfer station.
- Refuse to be removed from residential and commercial properties.
- Cleansing of taxi and bus ranks, footpaths, and streets.
- Litter removal from public open spaces and main highways, as well as the streets.
- Empty the public dustbins and the street.
- Cleaning of public streets, taxi and transit ranks, and open spaces.
- Cleaning of municipal facilities and structures.
- As per the supervisor/manager’s delegation, execute any additional Ad Hoc tasks and responsibilities within the waste management section.
