Applications must be submitted on the prescribed form Z83 (NB. The new prescribed employment form can be downloaded at www.dpsa.gov.zavacancies; the old prescribed employment form Z83 was withdrawn with effect from 31 December 2020) and must be completed in full, with page 2 duly signed (failure to do so will result in your application not being considered) and clear indication of the reference number on the Z83.

Only a completed and signed new Form Z83, available from any Public Service Department or on the internet at www.gov.za, and a detailed Curriculum Vitae are required.
Shortlisted candidates must submit certified copies of their Identity Document, Senior Certificate, and the highest required qualification, as well as a driver’s license, to HR on or before the day of the interview. Applicants with foreign qualifications must submit evaluated results from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Shortlisted candidates must be available for virtual interviews at a time and date determined by the Government Printing Works.
Personnel suitability checks will be conducted as part of the selection process, and successful candidates will be required to sign an employment contract and performance agreement (if applicable), as well as obtain a positive security clearance.

DRIVER HEAVY VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS:

NQF level 3 (Grade 10 certificate or equivalent qualification is required).
Valid Driver’s License Code 14 / EC Permit to Drive for a Living That Is Still Valid (PDP).
1 to 2 years’ worth of experience behind the wheel.
Experience working in a distribution environment for customer orders (both bulk and fine goods) is highly desirable for this position.
A working knowledge of travel and accommodation procedures.

DRIVER HEAVY VEHICLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Include operating delivery vans and trucks.
Obtain stock from service providers and deliver it both to customers and to end users.
Help is needed both loading and unloading the orders into the vehicle.
Transport departmental officials, customers, and guests according to their needs as requested.
Keep trip sheets for the schedule accurate and up to date.
This includes keeping track of official trips, daily mileage, and fuel consumption.
Assuring that each and every one of the POD’s deliveries is handed over to the Administrative Clerk on a daily basis.

Report incidents and accidents in a timely manner, as well as compile a report on the condition of vehicles and any other records requested by management.
Maintaining a vehicle’s minor and major components, along with the renewal of its licenses and discs, requires close coordination and communication with the officer in charge of transportation.
Provide customer service and act as a GPW representative while out in the field.
Check that the security procedure for the consignment being handled is being followed.
Carry out all delivery plans and timetables as planned.
Obtain an accurate count of the boxes and arrange them in accordance with the unloading sheets. Unloading by hand of non-palletized goods from trucks, configuring cases according to unlading sheets

Protect against and keep track of any shortages or damages.
Before loading, double check that the correct products and quantities have been loaded in accordance with the delivery notes.
Verify that the product has been correctly packaged in accordance with the job’s specifications, such as in a box or a shrink-wrap pack.
Examine and make sure the finished product is correct after production (Handover).
Maintaining the major and minor components of the vehicle’s maintenance schedule requires close coordination and communication with the administration clerks.

Every day, check to see that the vehicles are spotless and in good order, and maintain this standard throughout.
Notify the driver of any damage or defect that may have occurred to the vehicle.
Notify the driver of any malfunctioning equipment that is stored in the vehicle.
Resolve any questions regarding proof of delivery (POD) along with any other administrative departmental concerns.
Always comply with administrative officials’ requests and instructions, and give them your full cooperation.

Sincere, and maintain open and positive lines of communication with those working in the office.
Ensure that the floors are kept clean and that the working environment is kept orderly at all times.
Check to see that the items are packed in carriers or boxes.
Carry out additional tasks as directed in order to accomplish the GPW’s objectives.
Observance of all applicable health and safety regulations
Participate in any and all relevant training that may be required by the GPW.
