Description of the Job

THINK is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable communities on a global scale that are located both locally and internationally.
The scope of our work encompasses three primary areas:
Research, the enhancement of health systems, and capacity building.
To address a wider range of critical health challenges, such as infectious diseases, mental health, gender disparities, and the development of resilient healthcare systems in the face of pandemics and climate change, our primary focus is on addressing these issues.
Providing care and carrying out cutting-edge work that has contributed to making a difference both locally and globally, THINK collaborates with the local community, government consortia, and international funders in order to accomplish these goals.

THINK is looking for Community Health Workers X12 (CHW) who are committed and compassionate to join our team and play a pivotal role in promoting the health and well-being of the community.
Someone who is passionate about addressing significant health issues, providing education and support to individuals and groups, and fostering strong connections between healthcare providers and members of the community is the ideal candidate for this position.

Sekhukhune and Vhembe Districts will serve as the locations of the positions’ respective headquarters.

Some of the duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate and take part in community events, workshops, and health fairs in order to carry out health screenings, distribute educational materials, and raise awareness about important health issues.
Individual and group education sessions should be provided on a variety of topics, including but not limited to nutrition, preventive care, management of chronic diseases, mental health, and healthy lifestyles.
In order to ensure that healthcare services are accessible and culturally competent, it is important to act as a cultural and linguistic bridge between community members and healthcare providers.

TB patients who are being followed up on should have their loss traced, they should be given support to re-engage them in their care, they should be assisted with TB screening activities, and they should be supported in adhering to their treatment regimens.
It is necessary to carry out a tracing of tuberculosis contacts, ascertain which patients are eligible for tuberculosis preventive therapy (TPT), and make it easier for them to receive preventive treatment.
Provide assistance to members of the community in navigating the healthcare system, including enrolling in health insurance programs, scheduling medical appointments, and gaining access to social services.

Create connections between individuals and families and the appropriate social services, financial assistance programs, and mental health resources, depending on the circumstances.
In order to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and maintain confidentiality, it is necessary to collect and keep accurate records of the tuberculosis services that are provided, as well as outreach activities and education sessions that are held.
Create regular reports that detail the outreach activities and the impact those activities have had on the health indicators of the community.
Present the findings to the coordinator of the community health program.

In order to improve your knowledge and abilities, you should take part in regular team meetings, training sessions, and opportunities for professional development.
In order to strengthen the support network for community health initiatives, it is important to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals, community organizations, and stakeholders.

Requirements include :

A high school diploma.
A command of the languages spoken in the area.
Knowledge of tuberculosis-related activities and prior experience working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are desirable.
A demonstrated history of community engagement, mobilization, and development within the context of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or social programs.

It is beneficial to have prior experience working in the health sector as well as familiarity with the community in which one lives.
Capability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups, including members of the community, healthcare providers, and stakeholders.
A commitment to providing care and services that are culturally competent, as well as sensitivity to the differences that exist between cultures.
