Description of the Handyman Job
Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is currently seeking enthusiastic candidates for a position in our Site & Utilities division.
For the position of Handyman, which will be based in CCBSA Lakeside, we are looking for a talented individual who possesses the relevant skills and experience.
The candidate who is ultimately selected will report directly to the Team Leader:
Site.
Maintaining (inspecting and adjusting) and proactively repairing site-related equipment, including proactive building maintenance, painting, and general repairs in accordance with established maintenance schedules.
Handyman Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Using both hand and power tools, repair or replace any damaged equipment parts, and then reassemble the machine.
• Perform Routine Preventative Maintenance to ensure that building systems operate effectively and that the building’s physical condition does not degrade.
• Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, including hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
• Maintain ablution facilities
• Assemble pipe systems and plumbing, equipment and machinery.
• Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster wallboard, and other building components.
• Repair wooden structures, such as counters, benches, partitions, sheds, and outbuildings.
Handyman Knowledge, Experience in the Real World, and Formal Education
KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES
• Performing Routine Maintenance on Equipment – This includes determining when and what type of equipment maintenance is necessary, as well as performing routine maintenance on the equipment.
• Repairing involves adjusting or restoring the functionality of broken components of a machine or an entire system using the proper tools.
• Diagnosis and problem-solving, including identifying the causes of operational errors and determining how to correct them
• Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems and their repair techniques.
• Active listening involves paying full attention to what others are saying, taking the time to comprehend their points, asking pertinent questions, and refraining from interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Selection of Equipment – Planning is essential to the successful completion of a task, and this must be accomplished with the proper equipment.
• Reading Comprehension is the ability to comprehend written sentences and paragraphs in professional documents.
• Critical Thinking – employing logic and reason to determine the advantages and disadvantages of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to a problem.
• Operation Monitoring – observing gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that equipment is operating correctly.
• Coordination entails modifying one’s behavior in relation to that of others.
Handyman Credentials / Experience:
• You will benefit from having a trade certification (for example, in carpentry, painting, building, or plumbing).
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a tiller, painter, plumber, or carpenter, as well as a background in construction.
• Interaction verbale in the English language.
• The ability to work without close supervision and independently.
• Operating both hand and power tools.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
