Position Description

In Pietermaritzburg, Hollywoodbets is seeking a VIP (Security) Officer for its Pietermaritzburg Branch.
The VIP (Security) Officer will be responsible for establishing and preserving a safe environment for the public.
This may involve monitoring surveillance equipment or conducting patrols to secure the premises.
The VIP (Security) Officer is responsible for preventing loss and theft as well as reporting any irregularities or suspicious behavior.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade C.
1 to 2 years of experience in Security.
Authenticated with PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority).

Advantageous:

A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities:

  • The VIP (Security) Officer must be present 15 minutes prior to the branch’s official opening.
  • In the presence of the VIP (Security) Officer, the branch will be inaugurated by the branch manager or senior team leader.
  • Before the Branch opens, VIP (Security) Officers must ensure they conduct a perimeter patrol.
  • Prior to the branch’s opening, VIP (Security) Officers must conduct a perimeter check for suspicious activity.
  • Prior to the opening and closing of the Branch, the VIP (Security) Officer must be incredibly vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times.
  • Once the Branch is open, the VIP (Security) Officer must conduct a floor walk to ensure everything is in order.
  • Before the Branch Manager or Senior Team Leader continues with their daily checks, the VIP (Security) Officer must validate that all observation checks have been completed.
  • During opening and closing, one VIP (Security) Officer must be stationed away from the entrance, observing his or her colleague and assessing potential threats.
  • Patrolling should encompass the interior and exterior of the Branch entrance, as well as the back and parking areas.
  • Ensure that all two-way radios are fully charged prior to the shift change and equipment handover inspection.
  • Charge the batteries overnight so they are ready to use at the start of your shift.
  • Ensure that all panic buttons and two-way radios are in working order and are stored securely.
  • VIP (Security) Officers are required to carry their panic buttons, two-way radios, and earpieces to ensure open communication and accessibility in the event of an emergency.
  • The VIP (Security) Officer assigned to the searching zone must use the scanner to search all guests, including team members, who enter the Branch.
  • Ensure that the Branch door or gate is always closed at the searching zone.
  • It is prohibited for VIP (Security) Officers to cross-gender scan guests entering the Branch.
  • Male guests must be screened exclusively by male VIP (Security) Officers, while female guests must be screened exclusively by female VIP (Security) Officers.
  • The VIP (Security) Officer must ensure that female bags are inspected with a stick. Male guests are not permitted to bring bags.
  • The VIP (Security) Officer is responsible for directing traffic on our property, ensuring the free flow of foot traffic, and controlling the number of vehicles entering and leaving the building.
  • As part of the end-of-day closing procedure, the VIP (Security) Officer must minimize entry by securing one door with a sliding bolt to ensure minimal high-risk exposure.
  • The VIP (Security) Officer is required to attend Branch meetings when notified to do so by the Branch Manager.
  • Every morning by 10:00 a.m., the VIP (Security) Officer must assist with receiving inventory, conducting alarm tests, and submitting the daily report.

Guest Service:

  • First impressions are the most important – VIP (Security) Officers are the most prominent in Hollywood.
  • The VIP (Security) Officer is the first person the guest encounters.
  • Ensure a positive first impression by saying “Good day and welcome to Hollywood”
  • Always provide excellent customer service by being friendly, helpful, polite, and courteous.
  • Address guest complaints proactively and ensure that guest feedback is communicated effectively and positively.
  • Create a guest-focused culture within the Branch and promote the “service with a smile” philosophy at all times.
  • Ensure that you always treat our guests with courtesy and a positive attitude.
  • When Guests depart, the Branch VIP (Security) Officer should wish them a good evening or night and invite them to return. “ Goodbye, Sir, and please return.

Compliance:

  • Prior to the start of their shift, VIP (Security) Officers must ensure that they are wearing full Amadoda uniforms with their name badges. (exclusively black shoes, black socks, and white vet)
  • Examine all individuals entering the facility, including team members.
  • Observe guests leaving the Branch and determine if they entered the Branch with an object and are now leaving without it.
  • No bags are permitted inside the building.
  • No weapons or firearms are permitted on the premises (except on an official law enforcement officer).
  • No one under the age of 18 is permitted on the property.
  • Before the situation escalates out of control, contact your coworkers and press the panic button if you are dealing with a difficult customer.
  • In Branches without a liquor license, alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
  • Credit wagers are not permitted for any team member.
  • On-duty VIP (Security) Officers are prohibited from placing wagers with Amadoda.
  • On-duty VIP (Security) Officers are prohibited from using the Limited pay-out machine.

Code of Ethics:

You may not sit, lounge, use your cell phone, or eat while on duty.
No smoking on duty.
You will not report to duty while impaired by alcohol.
You will not leave your position. This may result in disciplinary action being taken against you.
You may not sleep while on duty. You will face disciplinary action as a result.
You will not engage in casual conversations with teammates or friends while at your post.
You will not accept gratuities from customers.

Other:

VIP (Security) Officers are required to report their absence to the Branch Manager or Senior Team Leader two hours prior to the start of their shift.
