JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF)

The JSE is dedicated to the development and upskilling of the future leaders of South Africa.
Nelson Mandela once stated, “Education is the most potent weapon that can be employed to transform the world.
” In order to assist pupils in their pursuit of academic excellence, the JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF) was established.
Students who were previously disadvantaged and are currently in their second or third year of their undergraduate or postgraduate (Honours) studies are eligible for bursaries from the JEF.

Qualifications

  1. You must be a high-achieving student who is pursuing a degree in the following field full-time:
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Science
  • Actuarial Science
  • Information Technology
  • Informatics
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Accounting
  • Data Analytics
  1. The following universities will be the sole consideration for applications:
  • Pretoria University
  • University of Johannesburg
  • Nelson Mandela University
  • University of the Witwatersrand
  • North-West University
  • University of Limpopo
  • University of Cape Town
  • Fort Hare University
  • University of the Free State
  • University of Kwa-Zulu Natal
  1. The application must be accompanied by the following supporting documents:
  • Copy of a Certified Identification Card
  • Proof of registration Academic record Proof of household income
  • Evidence of residency

Minimum Requirements

  • Students who are South African citizens and belong to the designated category are eligible to apply.
  • The annual joint income of the pupils’ parents/caregivers should not exceed R650,000.
  • Applications for the second, third, or honors year of study will be evaluated exclusively.
  • A minimum aggregate of 70% must have been attained by applicants.
