Short Description / Objective of Position

  • A Fire Fighter safeguards the Company’s assets, including legal partnership agreements, from the detrimental effects that may arise from SHERQ-related emergency occurrences.

Recruitment Overview / Key Responsibilities

  • Implement SHE best practices in all emergency management actions.
  • Execute responsibilities in accordance with directives.
  • Engage in training to guarantee mental and physical readiness for managing incidents.
  • Engage in KPA and PDP deliberations.
  • Guarantee performance in accordance with Key Performance Areas (KPAs).
  • Guarantee personal execution of PDP actions.
  • Collaborate effectively with all parties.
  • Respond to emergency situations in accordance with established time standards.
  • Engage in plant emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Assess and recommend enhancements to emergency management operations.
  • Assess and recommend enhancements in efficacy and service provision.
  • Propose recommendations and enhancements for safety improvements.
  • Engage in household tasks.

Formal Education

  • Grade 12 with mathematical literacy or an equivalent qualification or higher
  • Medically fit, in accordance with the pertinent Fire Fighter fitness level evaluation
  • Firefighter 1 and 2 (NFPA 1001) – Mandatory
  • HPCSA registration and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – (Mandatory)
  • Registered with HPCSA and current ILS – (Wish)
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations (NFPA 1072/472) – (Mandatory)

(The specified courses and competencies along with the career path are pertinent to the many firefighting roles.
A candidate will be assigned a specific rank according to their years of experience and current qualifications, in accordance with the criteria outlined in the applicable Sasol Policies and the Emergency Management career path for Fire Fighters in training up to the Leading Fire Fighter level.)

Minimum Experience

  • 0 to 5 years of pertinent experience

The post will be filled according to the pertinent approved MSP career guide.
