Job Description
Anova is seeking a Mobile Driver/Counsellor to assist in the implementation of our PWUD program by transporting our mobile clinic and trailer to a variety of sites in the Johannesburg Metro and adjacent districts.
Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the HTS responsibilities, which include mobilizing, counseling, and testing.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Logistics and Transportation
- Guarantee secure and safe transportation to and from outreach sites and offices. In charge of the operation of the mobile clinic or labor vehicle.
- Ensure that fuel, mileage, and maintenance records are maintained in accordance with the instructions of the Project Manager, site Coordinator, or Administrator.
- Ensure that all field equipment, including generators, chairs, and tents, is loaded and unloaded at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Ensure that all items in the vehicle are handled appropriately, and report any damages that have occurred.
- Adhere to all road regulations and rules in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act of South Africa, as well as the safety requirements and standard operating procedures of the Anova vehicle.
- It is imperative that you remain informed about Anova’s vehicle policy.
- You are accountable for transporting yourself and the team to the work sites as needed, and you must comply with the Anova vehicle management policy.
- Provide a written report in the event of any incident or accident involving the vehicle and submit the weekly vehicle inspection checklist to the project administrator.
Supportive Outreach Initiatives
- Offer a client-centered, integrated, and comprehensive HTS with assistance.
- In accordance with the National HIV Counselling and Testing policy/guidelines, administer HTS.
- Ensure that all clients who have been diagnosed with HIV are directed to the local facilities.
- Ensure that the client who has been recently diagnosed with a positive test is initiated on ART.
- Comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) when conducting and documenting IQC.
- Guarantee adherence to the policies and guidelines of infection control, waste management, and HTS.
- Promote the utilization of health care services, such as HCT and STI screenings, by PWUDs.
- Guarantee that there are sufficient HTS supplies for outreach.
- Guarantee the non-misuse of company resources.
- Guarantee that the testing supplies are stored in the correct manner in the field.
- Guarantee that there are sufficient HTS supplies for outreach.

- It is imperative that you consistently employ a cooler box to collect and store your HTS supplies.
- Assist the professional nurse in the administration of the contents of the mobile clinic.
Administrative Assistance
- The client’s data was accurately completed and submitted on a daily basis.
- Keeping a record in the DoH HTS register.
- Daily reports of high-quality HTS data.
- We respond to data queries within 24 hours.
- Ensuring that HTS data is monitored and that targets are achieved.
- Achieved the necessary administrative tasks through delegation.
- Professionalism is upheld in accordance with the relevant policies at work.
Any additional responsibilities that have been agreed upon with the line manager.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Necessary
- Grade 12
- Professional drivers’ permit and heavy-duty drivers’ license that are pertinent.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a counselor driver.
- Educated in the fundamentals of HIV counseling, adherence counseling, and HAST.
- Working knowledge of the Department of Health (DoH), HTS guidelines, and protocol.
- Expertise in the role of an HTS counselor.
Proficiency in Technology
- Understanding of the prevention of HIV/AIDS
- A comprehensive understanding of the PWID community and pertinent issues
- Proficiency with computersGeneral Proficiency
- Capacity to preserve confidentiality.
- Concentration on the details.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities, including the capacity to multitask, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently, as well as the ability to manage time and tasks.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities.
- The individual must possess the ability to function both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in both written and spoken communication.
