Description of the General Worker Job
Midas is looking to add an enthusiastic General Worker to its team in the Schweizer-Reneke location, and they require someone who is goal-oriented and driven.
To carry out general warehouse tasks such as taking inventory, sorting items into bins, picking, packing, checking, relocating stock, and ensuring that the warehouse is kept clean at all times.
General Worker Essential Conditions:
Matric or equivalent qualification (Literacy and numeracy)
A minimum of three years’ experience working in a warehouse and/or a logistics environment;
Desirable skills include knowledge of spare parts, motor parts, and engine parts, as well as warehouse systems and procedures.
Must possess skills in numeracy and literacy.
Must be accurate, focused, and attentive to detail. Must be efficient and accurate.
Independently driven and eager to go the extra mile for the team
Participation on teams is required.
In good physical shape
Be truthful and act with integrity.
Free from felony convictions
The scope of Key Performance Indicators does not restrict itself to, but does include.
Binning
Ensure that the applicable standard operating procedures and requirements are followed when sorting incoming goods into bins and when replenishing stock from bulk to pick locations.
This includes ensuring that the procedures are carried out in the correct order.
Make sure that new products are stored in the right area of the warehouse and are labeled with the correct bin location numbers.
You need to make sure that the bins are always kept up to date and that your superior is informed of the stock that has been moved to new bin locations.
Make a contribution to the operation of the replenishment system
Ensure that each and every incoming shipment is received and inspected in accordance with the standards established by the company.
Picking
To ensure that you meet the order cut off times, you must ensure that orders from both customers and branches are picked in a timely manner.
To avoid pack size breakage, make sure that picking from bulk locations is only done as an alternative bin when stock is depleted and not replenished during the picking phase, or when picking bulk orders.
You are required to complete the work in accordance with any and all reasonable and legal instructions given to you by your superior in connection with the job.
Ensure that all relevant procedures are followed in order to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction possible.
Participate in the activities associated with stocktaking.
It is critical to complete daily cleaning tasks.
Make sure to double-check everything to avoid losing inventory and to keep your customers satisfied. This will also ensure that their needs are met.
Check on a regular basis to ensure that the operational standards that have been established are being met.
Access to the Scanner’s Controls
Every day, scanners should be made available to all of the operators.
Utilize the mobile app to make reservations for available scanners.
Receive scanners that have been returned by operators, perform a functional check on each scanner to ensure that it is in good working order, and then book the scanner back into stock using the appropriate electronic application.
Please inform the manager of any damage that may have been sustained.
