Job Description
For their Randridge location, Dis-Chem Pharmacies need the services of a qualified pharmacist.
Your portfolio will address the provision of pharmaceutical care by assuming responsibility for patients’ medicine-related demands and thereby ensuring their satisfaction.
Minimal Criteria:
- Essential: Grade 12 / Matric
- BPharm / comparable qualifying degree
- Registered under South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Min two to three years of Pharmaceutical Experience
- Two to three years of retail pharmacy experience—Student/Intern
- MS Office; computer literate

- Third additional language based on SAP experience

Duties And Responsibilities:
- Taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs and being accountable for satisfying those needs will help to provide pharmaceutical care, therefore encompassing the following roles:
- Determining the indication, safety and efficacy of the therapy helps one evaluate a patient’s needs connected to medicines.
- Dispensing any medication or prohibited substance on a prescription written on the name of someone licensed to write prescriptions
- Following GPP 2.7.1.2.1.f, signing off and verifying all prescriptions written by an assistant or intern and taking responsibility for their accuracy.
- Providing knowledge and guidance to every individual on the use of medicine
- Finding patient compliance with the treatment and follow-up to guarantee that their needs connected to medications are being satisfied
- The supply of therapy started by pharmacists
- The compounding, handling, preparation or packaging of any pharmaceutical or controlled drug, or the monitoring thereof
- The production of any drug or planned chemical, or oversight of such
- Purchasing, acquiring, importing, storing, maintaining, handling, releasing, packing, re-packaging, providing or selling of any pharmaceutical or controlled drug, or supervising thereof
- Applications for the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act-aligned registration of a drug
- The acts especially related to the occupation of a pharmacist as indicated above;
- Any medicine’s formulation for the intent of registration as a medicine;
- The delivery of any drug or controlled chemical;
- Medication re-packaging;
- Starting and running pharmaceutical research & development; and
- Public health’s encouragement.
- In line with the South African Pharmaceutical Council, precisely interpret scripts and operate professionally and responsibly within the legal constraints.
- Accurate capture of script details will help you to confirm system patient data.
- Verify correct selection, packing, labeling, and medication checking; also, be aware of common dosages and significant drug interactions.
- Tell the patients exactly how to utilize the given medications.
- Remain current with changes in medical aid policies and claim and dispersion requirements.
- Patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, front-shop advice and assistance.
- As asked by the dispensary manager, follow up with patients on script monitoring reports and scheduled visits.
- Tell patients all about the expense of medical aids.
- Honor your commitments to clients.
- Review of disease problems and, as needed, referral to in-store health facilities.
- Process all documentation required for medical aid accurate claim filing.
- Correct mistakes on medical aid scripts turned down.
- Verify approval of oncology, HIV and AIDS, and chronic medication.
- Maintaining client profiles on the system
- Vexall should be informed to merge profiles centrally after local merging of profiles.
- Consider any notes on the client profile and act accordingly.
- Help the Dispensary Manager to guarantee timely and correct operation of all administrative tasks.
- Send the dispensary management a report on low – / out of stock levels and stock mistakes.
- Lead bi-annual stock counts.
- Control stocks, cash, and assets.
- Help the Dispensary Manager to make sure every registration is maintained current in line with regulations and that all stock control procedures are followed.
- Standards for housekeeping have to line up with Dis-Chem.
