Experience:
Appropriate experience.
Essential functions and responsibilities of the position:
A working knowledge of at least two of the three official languages used in the Western Cape.
Availability to work rotating shifts, including night shifts, when necessary.
Must be willing and able to deal with dead bodies (corpses).

Responsibilities (important result areas and outputs):
Accompany patients who are able to walk and transport sitting patients who are unable to walk safely via wheelchair or trolley between different departments and wards as well as into and out of ambulances.
Guide or accompany guests as they travel to their various destinations.
Assist in moving medical equipment to and from patient rooms, as well as check, order, and report on the status of gas cylinders located in wards and treatment areas.
Help the nursing staff move patients from trolleys or beds to beds or vice versa when they are transferring patients.
Transport medical records and other paperwork (such as patient files, reports, and so on) to the appropriate wards or treatment areas.
The individual in charge of maintaining the cleanliness of wheelchairs and trolleys, including the replacement of trolley linen on an as-needed basis.
Please let the supervisor know about any problems with the wheelchairs or trolleys.
Attend to requests coming from individual wards or clinics.
Help move bodies from the wards to the mortuary and enter information about the deceased into the register for the mortuary.
