Miner Stopper Minimum Necessary Requirement Is:
Have in your possession a Scheduled Blasting Certificate that is still active
Hold a valid Grade 10/Matrix Certificate or equivalent.
The appointee is expected to:
Certified in the Competency to Perform the Role of a Stopper
Certificate in first aid that is currently valid
Have a minimum of five years’ worth of experience working in trackless mining
You must pass a risk-based medical exam at the Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre in order to demonstrate that you are physically able to perform the duties associated with the position and the environment.
Have experience mining in the Up dip, Down dip, and Winze areas.
Miner Stopper Principal Duties and Obligations:
• The early morning examinations are to be conducted and/or supervised in accordance with the procedures.
• Make sure the surface is ready for the daily blast
• Watch over the cycle of operations
• Ensure charging up procedures and standards are adhered to, including connecting time
• Supervise end-of-shift procedures
• Sign for and adhere to blasting schedules
• Optimisation of allocated resources
• Display updated plans for everyone to be informed
In underground mines, load explosives, set fuses, and detonate explosives in order to produce the desired blasting patterns and rock fragmentation.
Conduct legal and general administration duties.
Plan, organize, coordinate, and lead all members, duties, and services regarding the operation of the workplace.
Contribute to forward planning and problem solving in the workplace.
Maintain the physical and mental well-being of the people and the conditions within the section.
• Make certain that the daily production goal is achieved.
• You are responsible for ensuring the effective availability and utilization of all materials and equipment.
• Within the department, foster effective teamwork and promote its growth;
