Description
Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit applications to the Gauteng College of Nursing for the Diploma in Nursing program in 2025 at any of the College campuses:
• Ann Latsky Campus
• Chris Hani Baragwanath Campus
• SG Lourens Campus
• Bonalesedi Campus
To effectively apply and be eligible for the course, please observe the following:
- Registration of a profile on the system is mandatory prior to application submission.
- Must be a South African citizen residing in the Gauteng Province.
- You must possess one of the following school leaving certificates: a Senior Certificate, a National Senior Certificate, currently enrolled in Grade 12, or a National Vocational Certificate in Primary Health.
- Applications must be submitted via the GPG Professional Job Centre system by or on the 11th of October; late submissions will not be accepted.
- Certified documents will be submitted to the system; however, you must bring supporting documents to the screening center if you are shortlisted.
- Hand-delivered or emailed applications will not be accepted; all applications must be submitted online
The subsequent subject criteria are mandatory:
- Senior Certificate: English Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C, Biology Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C, Mathematics Higher Grade D or Standard Grade C, and a M score of 17
- National Senior Certificate: English Level 4, Life Sciences Level 4, Mathematics Level 4 or Mathematics Literacy Level 5, and an Admission Point Score (APS) of 27 or higher (Life Orientation contributes half the score)
- National Vocational Certificate: 50% in Fundamental Subjects (English First Additional Language, Mathematics/Mathematics Literacy, Life Orientation) and 60% in Vocational Subjects (South African Health Care System, Public Health, The Human Body and Mind, and Community-Oriented Primary Care)
- Current Grade 12 students must fulfill the National Senior Certificate criteria based on their final Grade 11 results.

Notes
All people who make the short list will have to go through a psychometric test.
Applicants who pass the psychometric test will have to go through medical surveillance, which includes a physical check and making sure all of their paperwork is correct.
Those who want to apply must scan and share their Senior/National Senior/National Certificate (Vocational) or a statement of their Grade 12 results or their final Grade 11 results.

Getting through all the steps in the hiring and selection process doesn’t mean you’ll be chosen for the program.
- To sign a learning contract with the Gauteng College of Nursing,
- Be willing to take part in Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which includes working shifts and nights, weekends, and public holidays in Gauteng Department of Health hospitals and clinics as part of the program.
