MANDATORY CONDITIONS:

A qualification at the undergraduate level that is equivalent to NQF level 6 and is recognized by SAQA.
A degree in Library and Information Studies or Science from an institution of higher learning that has been recognized as legitimate.
Experience working in a library setting for a period equaling two years.
A current and valid driver’s license (with the exception of those with a disability).
A familiarity with the principles of Batho Pele as well as the Public Service Regulations, policies, and procedures.

Procedures for administration, including norms and standards.
Fundamentals of mathematics.
Putting things in order and making plans.
The ability to use computers.
Relationships with other people on a fundamental level.
Putting an end to a problem.
Keeping up with the discipline.

THE DUTY OF:

Advertise and raise awareness of the library’s services.
Organize and catalogue the material in the library.
Provide services in the areas of reference and information.
Establish a new library from the ground up.
Provide the community with a knowledgeable and professional library and information service.

Contribute to the process of determining the building’s, the equipment’s, and the library’s assets and material’s respective maintenance requirements.
Take charge of the day-to-day operations of the library.
In charge of the promotion and advocacy of library services and causes both within the library and outside of it.
Encourage the formation of book clubs as well as full participation in existing ones.
Carry out the essential administrative responsibilities of the library.

Users should be given an orientation on how to use the library and find information before they begin using the facility.
Users of the library should have access to information services.
Keep an eye on the statistics of library patrons and put together reports when necessary.
Provide assistance to the District Librarian so that asset verification can be completed.
Maintain communication regarding library issues with various stakeholders and the district library.
Reports should be compiled on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Maintain order among the library staff.
