Description of the Job

There are exciting opportunities available for x8 Betting Clerks to be based at our various Branches, Woodstock, Bellville, and Wynberg within the Western Cape Region.
These Branches are located in Wynberg, Woodstock, and Bellville.
The individual in this role will be responsible for managing the branch’s operations, including but not limited to accepting bets from customers, raising stakes, managing cash, processing payouts, providing customer service, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Advantageous:

1–2 years of experience in the Gaming Industry.

Betting Clerks Responsibilities:

Development of Branches

Make sure the betting boards are updated at the appropriate times.
Throughout the course of the day, there are updates to be made to memos, card changes, results, and scratchings.
Ensure that you are well-versed in all of the betting rules, odds, and pay-outs.
Before placing a bet that is greater than the limit, each member of the team is required to make a phone call to both the BSC and the Events Office to confirm the limit.
When laying large bets that do not require confirmation, members of the team are expected to let the Team Leaders or Betting Manager know about their actions.

Sales Administration

Cash must be managed within the branch in accordance with the processes and procedures that have been defined in order to minimize risks of theft and fraud.
The members of the team are to remain vigilant in the face of potential new schemes to defraud the company.

Management of Cash Flow

The members of the team are responsible for ensuring that they have the correct float amounts at the beginning of their shift in order to guarantee that balancing will take place at the end of the day.
During the course of the day, interim checks are required to be performed with the team leader who is on duty.
Make sure that any cash shortages are addressed right away, and any shortages of less than R250.00 must be paid back into the Hollywood taking by a member of the team on the same day.
Make sure that the team leader who is on duty is informed of any shortages or overs, and that these details are correctly recorded on the recon.

The Appearance of the Branch

Make sure that the location is always kept clean and organized in accordance with the standards of Hollywood.
Make sure that your workspace is well maintained and in a state that allows it to function properly.
Comply with all procedures in order to prevent losses for the company, and promptly inform your branch and Senior Team Leaders of any problems or malfunctions with the terminals, equipment, or resources if you encounter them (e.g. TV display of results, Off-line).

Service to Customers

Be kind, helpful, polite, and courteous at all times to ensure that your customers receive excellent service.
Make sure customers receive positive feedback and deal with customer complaints in a proactive manner.
Develop solid relationships with customers who buy from you regularly.
Establish a culture within the department that is focused on satisfying the needs of the customers and make “service with a smile” the cornerstone of the organization.

Compliance

ensuring compliance with, and adhering to, the company’s policies regarding its internal controls.
Compliance with the ethical code and an increase in fraudulent activities are both required.
When on duty, each member of the team must ensure that they are dressed in the appropriate Hollywood uniform.
It is strictly forbidden for any member of the team to participate in credit bets.
While on duty, members of the Hollywood team are not permitted to place bets while wearing their uniforms.
When they are not on duty and not wearing their Hollywood uniforms, team members are permitted to place wagers as if they were customers.
When they are not on duty, members of the team are not permitted to stand behind the customer service counters.
When they are on duty, members of the team are not permitted to use the Limited pay-out machine.
